We are Claudia and Marisol, the visionaries behind If Walls Can Talk, a Toronto-based multidisciplinary creative team. With a shared history of working at IKEA, we honed our skills in Design and Visual Merchandising, shaping our ability to craft environments that are both functional and inspiring. This rich background informs our approach, bringing a unique perspective to every project we undertake.

Our mission is to redefine decorating by creating spaces that seamlessly solve real-life challenges. With authenticity and purpose, we craft environments filled with warmth, character, and a touch of the unexpected. We believe every space should tell a story, your story.

WHAT’S BEHIND OUR NAME

Naming a business? It’s kind of like naming a child, seriously. Coming up with the name "If Walls Can Talk" was quite the adventure!. It’s one of those make-or-break moments where you hope the name captures the soul of what you do without feeling like you’re trying too hard. We still remember the two of us sitting on that bench, brainstorming names for our company. We threw around all sorts of ideas, some of them were pretty wild! But we knew we wanted something that stood out, something that would make people pause and think, or even better, ask us, "What’s behind that name?

We kept coming back to this idea that spaces have so much to say about the people who live or work in them. It’s like, every wall, every little corner, has its own story. If these walls could actually speak, what would they say about the life unfolding within them?

That’s when it clicked: wait...Walls actually can talk?

I’m Claudia, your go-to for fun, laughter, and a whole lot of positive energy! I’m a firm believer that a good cup of coffee can fix just about anything. Seriously, you’ll rarely catch me without my favorite brew in hand—whether it’s to kickstart my morning or keep the energy flowing through the afternoon.

When I’m not sipping coffee, I’m diving into everything that fuels my passion Art, fashion, and music, from RnB to classical. And at home, you can bet I’m constantly styling and rearranging our space, which drives my family crazy!

Inspiration finds me everywhere, from the energy of the city and the people I meet to a quick scroll through Instagram. But nothing beats flipping through my favorite interior design magazines for that next spark of creativity. It’s all about finding inspiration in the world around us!

CLAUDIA

So, how did I end up here? What started as a six-month adventure in Canada turned into a permanent stay, dreams have a funny way of doing that, right? I grew up in Mexico, constantly reimagining spaces and falling in love with design, which naturally led me to study Interior Design. Retail spaces were my first love, they’re like little worlds of their own. Once I settled in Toronto, I expanded my skills with Visual Merchandising, and my work experience helped me blend creativity with practical know-how to make spaces both functional and beautiful.

I’m all about hands-on projects, making things work better, and yes, nerding out on podcasts and courses about design, business, and mindset, always on the hunt for ways to better serve our clients. So, that’s me, beyond the formality: a designer, a creator, a lifelong learner, and someone who truly believes that, just like our spaces, our stories are always unfolding.

The experience they bring to the table in addition to their excellent skills as designers and stylists, means the work is always on point. They process the objectives and nuances of every project very quickly and they are always well planned and prepared. Even on fast turnaround projects! And speaking of fast…while they are methodical and thoughtful in everything they do, they are also fast.

From a design and styling perspective, they deliver a wide range of styles, always with layers and dimensions that show very well in photography and video. They are very good at sourcing products, materials, accessories and just as adept at utilizing existing materials. They can also create interesting displays that showcase our products well. It becomes very obvious very quickly they have the kind of experience that never lets you down. And as a small business, this level of faith and trust, when resources are always stretched, means we always come back!
